Our story begins in 1972 when the father of Kamala Sukosol, Mr Kamol Sukosol - entrepreneur, business tycoon and chairman of the Kamol Sukosol Company - acquired a 20-acre plot of land and made the visionary decision to build a resort. The Siam Bayshore Resort opened in 1975; one of only three hotels in Pattaya at the time. Under the leadership of his daughter and managing director, Kamala Sukosol, the resort was quickly recognised as one of Pattaya's most distinctive and established properties.
In 1983, Kamala Sukosol acquired another beachfront plot in the centre of Pattaya Bay and built the spacious Siam Bayview Hotel. Situated in the middle of Pattaya's vibrant night-life scene, and beside the newly-opened Central Festival shopping mall, the hotel has everything going for it. Nowadays, both hotels enjoy the reputation of being Pattaya's preferred first-class properties by travel agents and individual travellers alike.
To complement its Pattaya operations, in 1990 the hotel group opened the luxurious The Sukosol in downtown Bangkok. The hotel is located just two blocks north of central Bangkok and is easily accessible via the Airport Motorway, citywide BTS Skytrain network and new Airport Rail Link.
Not content to sit on their laurels, the hotel group has further expanded in June 2012 to include a luxury 39-room boutique property, The Siam, on the banks of Bangkok's famed Chao Phraya River. This ambitious and stately hotel is the brainchild of Kamala Sukosol's youngest son, Krissada Sukosol Clapp, who has helped conceptualise and design along with internationally renowned architect Bill Bensley and Associates. For information and introductory rates regarding this unique property, please to go www.thesiamhotel.com or www.facebook.com/thesiam.
The Siam Bayview Hotel in Pattaya is also going to expand, in the form of a Miami-style two-storey boutique hotel, Wave, located at the front of the property. Facing the ocean, the accommodation will offer exclusive personalised service in an intimate and elegant setting. Wave will take full advantage of its ideal downtown location beside Central Festival shopping mall and right in the middle of bustling Beach Road. The hotel is set to open in Q4 2012.
What began as Siam Bay Hotels has morphed and altered over time. In 1990, with the addition (along with the Siam Bayview Hotel and Siam Bayshore Resort & Spa) of the Siam City Hotel in Bangkok, the name ‘Siam Bay Hotels' was no longer adequate. Thus was born ‘Siam City Hotels and Resorts', to represent the three properties. Then again, in 2009, with the looming addition of yet another hotel, The Siam - also in Bangkok - another name change was necessary. And so Siam Hotels & Resorts, was born.
And now, in 2012 we again make a momentuous change, this time to become Sukosol Hotels. The owning family's name was chosen to carry the hotel group as it nicely parlays our past success and hard-earned respect into a new brand and philosophy with the mission of bringing to the world the best bespoke and soulful hotel in Thailand.
Sukosol Hotels is a member of the Sukosol Group, which is divided into five divisions: Hotels, Trading, Properties, Living and Entertainment.
