The Japanese Doll Festival, or Girl’s Day, is held on March 3, the third day of the third month. In this delightful festival dating back hundreds of years, whereby platforms covered with a red cloth are used to display a set of ornamental dolls representing the Emperor, Empress, attendants and musicians in traditional court dress of the Heian period.
