Green Leaf Certificate
All Siam Hotels & Resorts properties have been awarded the Green Leaf Certificate, with the Siam Bayview Hotel and Siam Bayshore Resort in Pattaya receiving 5 leaves and the Siam City Hotel, Bangkok, achieving 3. As members, each hotel underwent an auditing of its environmental standards and was awarded a Green Leaf Certificate ranging from 1 to 5 leaves: 5 leaves indicating the highest level of practice. Objectives of the Green Leaf Program: to encourage and improve the efficiency of hotels and related businesses in the tourism industry to respond to environmental development and protection; to establish a nationwide classification of environmental standards in Thai hotels in accordance with the needs of customers and the development of technological efficiency; to raise awareness of Thailand's travel and tourism industry in promoting environmental quality and preservation; and to create a positive image and competitive advantage for Thailand on the world market.
An active "Green Leaf" member since 1997, the Siam Bayview Hotel in Pattaya firmly believes in staff taking ownership of the environment. "Creating awareness and educating the staff was key to our success. They all take an active role and are proud of their achievement," said General Manager, Saran Nimihut.
Adjustments by staff and guests were an easy undertaking according to the hotel's President, Kamala Sukosol, who said: "Everyone is acutely aware of such issues and generally most people are happy to participate in reducing environmental damage at every opportunity".
At Siam Hotels & Resorts, staff and management are firmly committed to protecting the environment, consistently upgrading the environmental standards of each property. In addition, an Environmental Committee regularly organises training and awareness activities in each hotel as well as the local community.
We invite our guests to be a part of this effort to save the environment for a cleaner and brighter future. For example, guests can be ‘responsible travellers' by re-using towels, not wasting water and turning lights and air-conditioning off when leaving the room.
