Loy Krathong Festival

Loy Krathong is one of the most magnificent festivals in Thailand, held on the full moon of the 12th month in the traditional Thai lunar calendar. Loi means "to float" and krathong is a floating raft made from a section of banana tree trunk and decorated with banana leaves, flowers, candles, incense sticks, etc. During the night of the full moon, many people will release a small raft like this on a river. Apart from venerating the Buddha with light, the act of releasing a raft is symbolic of letting go of all one's grudges, anger and defilements, so that one can start life afresh and on a better footing. In this way many Thais believe that floating a krathong will create good luck and prosperity.

In celebration of this year's Loy Krathong festival on Monday, November 2 the Bali Hai Seafood BBQ Terrace at the Siam Bayshore Resort & Spa and Narissa Garden Seafood Garden at the Siam Bayview Hotel will both host a spectacular nighttime party. Come along for an authentic Thai barbeque buffet prepared at live cooking stations by expert chefs. Complementing the stunning view over the Gulf of Siam will be a live music and Thai classical dance show followed by a Nang Noppamas parade down to the beach to float the krathongs out to sea.
