Ermanno Bottiglieri
Born in Siracusa, Italy, Ermanno Bottiglieri began guitar lessons at age 11 with Nello Alessi, and graduated with Paolo Nicolosi at “Conservatorio Vincenzo Bellini” of Palermo. He has studied with O. Ghiglia, A. Minella, M. Barrueco and R. Chiesa and won 1st prize in many competitions in Italy including the “Riviera in Musica” (1993); “Amici della Musica” (1994); “Musica Rara” (1994) and “Savona International Guitar Competition” (1997). He won 2nd prize at 39th Tokyo International Guitar Competition (1996). Ermanno has lived in Japan, where in 2000 he founded the Moisycos Music Edition and in 2005, founded the Moisycos Intercultural Institute in Italy.
In addition to an intensive solo schedule, Ermanno also played in the “Moisycos Guitar Duo” and recorded 3 CD’s: “J. K. Mertz – 15th duets”; “Night by Night” and “Rossini – Ouvertures”. As soloist, he recorded the CD “I and Me”. In 2001, he was awarded the important “Aretusa Prize” by the Mayor of Siracusa for “his intensive and appreciated international career as a classical guitarist”. “…fantasic virtuoso…” wrote the Italian newspaper, “La Stampa”, and famous composer Maurizio Colonna referred to him as, “one of the best interpreters of my music”. He regularly conducts master classes in Italy, Russia and Japan, and is a member of the Jury in important guitar competitions. Several composers have dedicated works to him including M. Iamone, F. Cavallone, D. Caruso, D. Ficco, C. Lacertosa.
