Mandolinist, Takami lives in Osaka Japan. She began mandolin lessons at 15 and continued to play at the mandolin club until high school at Tezukayama-Gakuin going on to graduate from the famous Tezukayama-Gakuin University in Osaka. She studied the mandolin under Prof. Masaki Kinoshita in Osaka, and continues to study under one of Japan’s famous mandolinists, Kizoh Sakakibara, in Nagoya. In 2004, she won 2nd prize in the Mandolin-Solo Competition in Nagoya, and was given the opportunity to play as one of the graduate members of Tezukayama-Gakuin University, at the Museum’s special concert in Osaka. She is currently concertmistress at the Armonia Mandoline Orchestra in Osaka.
Gen Taguchi began his guitar studies at 16, studying under maestro Masaji Nawata in 1966. He performed in Guitar-Solo Recitals in Osaka in 1972 and 1975. In 1972, he received his Masters Degree and began studying the mandolin. He has received special guitar lessons from the distinguished Norihiko Watanabe, a Paris International Guitar Competition Winner; Prof. Haruo Kusaka and has taken master classes with Konrad Ragossnig. In 1972, he founded the “Guitar Quartet” and released the LP record, “Modern Melody in Japan", in which his ensemble received prizes at several contests, and was given the “Culture Honor Prize” from Osaka Prefecture in 1992.
Gen is proud to be a part of the cultural exchange in guitar between Thailand and Japan.
