Thai Wine & Thai Cuisine Pairing
Presented by
The Siam City Hotel’s Spice & Rice Thai Restaurant &
PB Valley Khao Yai Wines
November 10th, 2007 to January 31th, 2008
The Siam City Hotel and PB Valley Khao Yai Wines are pleased to introduce a gastronomic event inspired by Thailand’s colourful herbs and spices, complemented with wines from its Northeastern countryside.
The hotel’s Spice & Rice Thai Restaurant pairs the unique flavours of Thai cuisine with PB Valley Khao Yai Wines, Thailand’s only fully accredited wine-maker and the country’s pioneer in “New Latitude Wines” - premium wines made from grapes grown in the exotic tropical latitude of 14.3 degrees north.
Authentic recipes accumulated from royal cuisine, notable occasions and traditional local herbs and spices inspire a fabulous menu created by Spice & Rice Chef Amornrat Sae-Heng. The 6-course suggested set menu paired with PB Valley Khao Yai Wines features “Yum Rim Taling Kab Mee Krob”, a spicy seafood salad with crispy noodles in a sweet and sour sauce; “Fong Sakuna”, a clear soup with sago kernels, sea bass and quail; “Praram Chom Preuksa”, grilled marinated beef or pork served with baked rice and basil pesto, and “Par Khee Riew Hor Thong”, sticky sesame pancakes filled with sweet egg yolk and pineapple. Highlights from the a la carte selection are “Pla Na Laeng”, a crispy fried fish with herbs; “Neau Yang Look Pak Chee Sauce Makham”, grilled striploin of beef with herbs and tamarind sauce, and “Moo Yang Choo Chee”, grilled tender pork in green curry with crispy brown rice pancakes.
The suggested 6-course set dinner superbly matched with PB Valley Khao Yai Wines is Bht 1,790++ per person (inclusive of wines). A la carte menu items are from 150++ to 310++ baht per dish.
Ladies receive a special gift during the promotion. Guests dining at Spice & Rice have the chance of winning a “Wine Tasting & Gourmet Tour” of PB Valley Estates for two people. The prize, sponsored by PB Valley Khao Yai Wines, includes transportation, lunch and wine tasting. There will be two prize drawings taking place at the end of December 2007 and February 2008.
A private upstairs dining room, seating 10-40 people, is available for personal or business entertaining.

PB Valley Khao Yai Winery
Now in its sixteenth year, PB Valley Khao Yai Winery is Thailand’s only fully accredited wine-maker. With a professional, large scale operation that features state-of-the-art technology, PB Valley has successfully pioneered and produced a number of exciting wines which have yet to be explored by Thailand’s thriving tourism. Years of research, testing and development have opened up new frontiers in the viticulture resulting in a “New Latitude Wine” - premium wines made from grapes grown in the exotic tropical latitude of 14.3 degrees north.
No-longer perceived as a homegrown product, PB Valley Wines’ exceptional taste, quality and reputation have won the 2002 PB Khao Yai Reserve Shiraz a silver medal at the AWC Vienna in 2006, receiving an 86.9 rating. Then, in 2007, the 2005 Sawasdee Chenin Blanc received a silver shield at the Adelaide Wine & Beverage Competition in Australia. Making a huge return to the wine circuit is PB Valley’s introduction of Sawasdee Khao Yai Rosé 2006. Inspired by the traditional Thai greeting, this blush-pink hue wine has a delicious character which lends itself to an aperitif or dinner wine, offering a surprising crispness.
